This year, I had the incredible honor of photographing my first Media Day with Westlake Cheer at the beautiful Westlake High School stadium in Austin, Texas in collaboration with Jerry Hughes Photography.
From individual athlete portraits to team photographs under the evening sky, the entire experience was filled with energy, excitement, and the pride that makes this program so special.
Capturing the Athletes Behind the Uniform
Media Day is about much more than creating photographs.
It's about celebrating the athletes who spend countless hours practicing, leading, encouraging one another, and representing their school with pride. It's about documenting a season they'll remember long after graduation.
The day began with Jerry capturing individual headshots before joining me outdoors for natural light portraits, team photographs, and behind-the-scenes coverage throughout the evening.
Every athlete brought enthusiasm, confidence, and school spirit to the camera, making the entire evening a joy to photograph.
Individual Cheer Photography
One of my favorite parts of Media Day was creating individual portraits for each cheerleader.
These images allow every athlete to be recognized and celebrated while capturing the personality, confidence, and dedication they bring to the program. Whether shared on social media, displayed at banquets, or treasured by family members, these portraits become an important part of preserving this season of life.
As a photographer, my goal is always to create images that feel authentic while showcasing each athlete's unique personality and pride in being part of Westlake Cheer.
Team Photos at Westlake High School Stadium
As golden hour approached, we transitioned into team photographs inside the stadium.
The iconic Westlake High School stadium provided the perfect backdrop for one of the most respected cheer programs in Texas. The combination of beautiful evening light, team spirit, and the excitement of a new season created photographs that truly represent the heart of Westlake Chaps Cheer.
From senior groups and leadership teams to full-program photographs, every image was designed to celebrate the athletes, friendships, traditions, and culture that make this team special.
Looking Forward to the 2026 Season
While Media Day is an exciting start, it's only the beginning.
I'm honored to continue photographing Westlake Chaps Cheer throughout the upcoming season, capturing the moments that happen both on and off the sidelines. From Friday night football games and spirit events to senior celebrations and team milestones, I look forward to documenting the memories that athletes and families will cherish for years to come.
There is something incredibly special about high school athletics and the lifelong friendships, traditions, and experiences they create. Being trusted to preserve those moments is a responsibility I never take lightly.
To the athletes, coaches, boosters, and families of Westlake Chaps Cheer, thank you for welcoming me into your program. I am excited for the season ahead and can't wait to capture all the memories still to come.
